چکیده

In this paper we introduce and formalise dynamic goal hierarchies. We begin with a formal definition of goals, according to which they are rational desires. In particular, we require that an agent’s goals are coherent; that is, that the agent believes that each goal is jointly realisable with all of the goals which the agent considers to be more important. Thus an agent’s goals form a hierarchy, and new goals are defined with reference to it. We then show how preferential entailment can be used to formalise the rational revision of goals and goal hierarchies.

An Application-Centric Characterization of Distribution Techniques for Dynamic Adaptive Grid Hierarchies

Dynamically adaptive methods for the solution of partial differential equations that employ locally optimal approximations can yield highly advantageous ratios for cost/accuracy. Distributed implementations of these methods offer the potential for accurate solution of physically realistic models of important physical systems. These implementations however, lead to interesting challenges in dyna...

Dynamic Environment Robot Path Planning Using Hierarchical Evolutionary Algorithms

The problem of path planning deals with the computation of an optimal path of the robot, from source to destination, such that it does not collide with any obstacle on its path. In this paper we solve the problem of path planning separately in two hierarchies. The coarser hierarchy finds the path in a static environment consisting of the entire robotic map. The resolution of the map is reduced ...

Multi-level Association Rule Mining: an Object-oriented Approach Based on Dynamic Hierarchies

Previous studies in data mining have yielded e cient algorithms for discovering association rules. But it is well-known problem that the two controlling measures of support and con dence, when used as the sole de nition of relevant association rules, are too inclusive | interesting rules are included with many uninteresting cases. A typical approach to this problem is to augment the thresholds ...

The Fragility of Individual-Based Explanations of Social Hierarchies: A Test Using Animal Pecking Orders

The standard approach in accounting for hierarchical differentiation in biology and the social sciences considers a hierarchy as a static distribution of individuals possessing differing amounts of some valued commodity, assumes that the hierarchy is generated by micro-level processes involving individuals, and attempts to reverse engineer the processes that produced the hierarchy. However, suf...

Dynamic Generation and Reenement of Concept Hierarchies for Knowledge Discovery in Databases

Concept hierarchies organize data and concepts in hierarchical forms or in certain partial order, which helps expressing knowledge and data relationships in databases in concise, high level terms, and thus, plays an important role in knowledge discovery processes. Concept hierarchies could be provided by knowledge engineers, domain experts or users, or embedded in some data relations. However, ...
